   Religion : DOG BLESS YOU
May I be forgiven by the believers for my critical attitude towards the religion which could not be left unspoken.
Politics : Strasbourg: the fight for LGBT rights is not over yet
Eight human rights activists from five CIS countries had an internship in Strasbourg on January 24-29. The trip was organized by the European Office of the International Lesbian and Gay Association ILGA-Europe for representatives of countries acting within the PRECIS project. The Moldovan non-governmental organization “GenderDoc-M” was represented by the women’s program coordinator Anastasia Danilova.
Community : There is always a way out, just make a step forward!
One of the first activities carried out this year by the women’s program was the so-called social game “Make a step forward!”. Its task is to show that there is always a way out of any situation, even the most difficult one.
   Letters : EXPRESSION OF FREEDOM
Sitting in front of my window, looking at the huge blocks of communistic heritage, spread in a number of European cities, unavoidably surrounding many of our living districts, blocking the sun from our houses and creating labyrinths of the streets in which we ourselves sometimes get lost, I am thinking about the freedom, which we, the humans, enclosed from us. Here by the word “blocks” I mean not only the grey concrete buildings itself, but everything else blocking us in every step we make - legislation, etiquette, religion, politics, race, culture, stereotypes, orientation and many more.
Community : Women’s Movement: Autonomous in General but with Great Desire to Integrate
The “round table” for festival guests and PRECIS Project participants was the last “ideological” pride event. The declared subject (“Experience and Prospects of Women’s Movement Development”) turned into disputes over effectiveness of extending male outreach principles to female outreach and reflections on how to assert rights without violence.
Community : Pride House: Many Useful and Interesting Things
On 8 May, having got tired a little after the morning conference on the freedom of association, the festival participants went to the Pride House after lunch. As it was planned by the organizers, three events were held in halls of one of capital hotels at the same time: debating debate club “Patriarchy and Homophobia”, psychological club “Positive Thinking”, and art club dedicated to decoration of different surfaces. Everyone could attend only two clubs selected depending on their interests. It was very hard to choose. At least, I was interested in everything.
Community : If you cannot speak, be silent. Or the topic of activists’ “roundtable” discussion on the freedom of association
Already at the press conference, the organizers of the “Rainbow over the Dniester-2009” festival declared that they renounced the idea of holding a peaceful manifestation to support the anti-discrimination law. The reason was lack of guarantees on the part of authorities concerning the manifestation security. Alexei Marcicov, president of GenderDoc-M Information Centre, and Boris Balanetchi, director of the organization, declared that the renouncement was a kind of protest against the violation of the right to freedom of association guaranteed by the Constitution to all citizens, including those who consider themselves sexual minorities.
Community : Who Got the Miss Flawless Queen-2009 Crown, or We Part but We Will Meet Again
The VIIIth festival of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals “Rainbow over the Dniester” has come to an end. The last night of the pride was dedicated to the festive closing of the three-day marathon and one of the most colourful, unusual and memorable events – International Transvestite Beauty Contest “Miss Flawless Queen-2009”. According to the good old tradition, it was organized at the “Equator” Night Club.
Community : A Safer Sex Promotion Party on the GP Love Liner
Sex is an integral part of our life. And a quite pleasant one! I think, nobody will argue with this. But sometimes the Goddess of Love, Venus, gives us such unpleasant surprises as sexually transmitted infections, one of which and the most terrible ones is HIV/AIDS. How can we preserve the greatest value, our health, and make sex safer? The answers to these questions were to be given at the Safer Sex Promotion Party that concluded the events of the second day of the pride.
Community : “Rainbow over the Dniester” Rose at the Faraon Nightclub
7 May 2009 was a special day for the LGBT community of Moldova. On that night, the grand opening of the VIIIth Festival “Rainbow over the Dniester” took place. This year the great event was held at the Faraon Nightclub.
